I feel the warmth of the morning sun as it clears the horizon and greet the new day with its endless potential for creative love. A friendly wren visits me by landing on the other chair, her presence affirming. The dragon flies are still too timid to land on my thumb although the geckos have come to trust me. A large dog barks one low woof in the distance as a hummingbird zooms past my nose. A lone dove sits on top of the bird feeder blinking at me as if asking to spread some seeds on the ground. She is preening and a small feather, illuminated by the sun, floats gently to the ground. There’s a brief period of loud tropical sounding chatter by a pair of woodpeckers causing me to grin. Then I’m aware of the white noise of traffic and send a prayer of safety to those who commute.
With her tea warming in the microwave, I wake her, my opposite, my completion, my Love.
