Biography
A graduate of Point Park College with a B.A. in Photography, I have twenty-five years of clinical and scientific photography, first at West Penn Hospital and then at St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh PA. I also produced numerous photographs for brochures and advertising for the Public Affairs Departments at both institutions. When St. Francis closed in 2002, I started a small business, Dan Mohan Photographs, offering location digital capture, specializing in medical images as well as general images for healthcare, education, corporate brochures, and advertising. Around this time I also started working with Aaronel deRoy Gruber, (see “Links”), a local Pittsburgh artist with international distinction. After retiring in 2018 we moved to Summerville, South Carolina.
I have been a volunteer, supporter and Board Member of The Silver Eye Center for Photography, a member of The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, Inc. (ASMP). I have severed on the Board of the Pittsburgh Chapter of ASMP.
As a fine arts photographer, I have participated in numerous exhibitions both regional and national.
