“Are you nuts?” My wife asks as she secures the fake piercings in my ear and lip.
The idea of using myself as model boiled over into my conscious after impatiently simmering somewhere below the surface. My photographs are not self-portraits. I’ll use myself in the image to make a point or a statement, to comment on an event or perhaps to evoke a smile. Additionally, “self-as-model” is very convenient. I don’t need releases, easy to coordinate schedules and I almost always agree with my ideas.
